Project Visitation was created by the State of
Hawai ‘i First Circuit Family Court and the Department of Human Services to provide monthly visits and special events for siblings separated by the foster care system. When children enter foster care due to parental abuse and neglect, they suffer a traumatic loss of connection with their biological family. Sometimes siblings are not able to live in the same foster home and their loss is compounded. Project Visitation seeks to minimize this loss by preserving the sibling relationship through visits. By bringing brothers and sisters together in a fun and safe environment, Project Visitation volunteers give them the opportunity to create family memories they otherwise would not have.
